Introduction
In this lesson we are going to be discussing all kinds of different landforms around the world, and then at the end of the lesson we are going to create a landform island of your own choice.
Task
The task is to learn everything you need to know about the landform Island that you are going to be creating, and then finding all the necessary materials you will need throughout the classroom, and having them with you to complete the project.
Process
In the assignment you will sketch out the landform Island that you wish to create, and then you will put the finished copy on a poster board where you will label everything, have a key explaining what each thing is in the corner, and then you will color it to look the best that it can.
Evaluation
For your evaluation, you will be graded on how well your project is created. You will also be being graded on if the landform Island has everything included on it that needs to be included. Different features on your landform, lots of color, and all labels to everything. There needs to be a key in the bottom corner explaining each thing, and also a compass in the left hand corner as well.
Conclusion
In conclusion of the lesson the families will have the chance to come in on a Friday night and see each one of the children's landform Island's that they created.
Credits
I give credits to my third grade teacher who had us do this as a lesson whenever I was in her third grade class. I found this to be a very fun assignment and I have remembered it ever since I was in third grade, and now I want to use it in my own classroom as well.
