Introduction 

Students will be able to apply the value of money to different subjects. The subjects the students will apply money to is math, social studies, and health. They will visit different websites to collect information that will be applied to each subject area.

Money is everywhere and is used everyday to purchase various items. This reason alone is why having the knowledge on how to add, subtract, and multiply is beneficial. This lesson will help you on understanding that money is incorporated in many everyday life situations. You are to complete various exercises to help improve your knowledge concerning money.

Math 



For this task you have been given $500.00 to purchase gifts for a few friends. Follow the instructions below to complete this project.

  • You are to visit the websites listed below to collect the value on a basketball, basketball hoop, and video game. Once you have collected the cost of these items, you will add them all together along with the sales tax rate for Jonesboro to show what the total price these items would cost.
  • Then you will subtract the total cost from the amount you were given. Please state the amount you have left over after purchasing the items for your friends. Please label your notebook paper with the name of each item and the cost of that item, that way I will be able to know which item you are using.

Social Studies

For this task you will visit the website listed below that shows you which president is listed on certain currency. You are to list each currency using a dollar or cent sign and then list the correct president with the correct currency. Please label using correct capitalization skills.

Health 

For this task you have been given $100.00 to purchase healthy foods. Please follow the instructions below to complete this project. 

  • For this task you are to complete a grocery list for 2 healthy meals. Your list should contain fruits, vegetables, and one meat. Please look at the food pyramid link that is listed below to pic. Also, please visit the Kroger website listed below in order to obtain pricing for fruits, veggies, and the meat of your choice. 
  • You will need to list the cost of each item you purchase beside the correct item it goes with, then you will need to total the cost of all items. After you have totaled all of the items, you will then need to subtract that amount from amount you were given. Please show your work and label items correctly.
