Famous Americans

Introduction

Welcome to the fifth grade

Wax Museum Project

Wouldn't it be amazing to get to meet and listen to some of most interesting and inspiring Americans from our past and present?  Well, you can!  With this project, each of you will chose a famous American and present about their life and what made them famous.  We will put on a wax museum presentation where these historical figures "come to life"!

Task

This year once again we will be having our Famous American Wax museum.  Each student will chose a famous American historical figure to research. Facts needed include where and when they were born, family, education, historically important events in his or her life. Once your research is complete, you will then begin writing a speech including those facts.  The speech will be turned into a "wax museum" presentation in which you will dress up to become that famous American.

Process

1.  Chose a famous American historical figure

2.  Get the person approved by your teacher

3.  Begin research by using the established outline of facts to look for

4.  When research is complete, begin writing speech using template

5.  Turn speech into a "wax museum" presentation

6.  Get into character by looking the part (dressing up like the famous American)

7.  Practice, practice, practice!
