Hello Boys & Girls!!!!

We have been learning about communities.  Communities is defined by "a group of people who live and work in the same place." There are different types of communities. We explored each type of community and their own characteristics through our readings and pictures in our textbook using a triple T-chart with the whole class.

Today, you are going to complete a web quest to learn about Pemberton Township, New Jersey.  You will work with a partner to research this wonderful town full of history.  We will begin with watching a short video together.  Then you and your partner will research Pemberton by using websites to find information in order to complete the worksheet provided by your teacher.

Now click the Process button below to begin Part One of the activity. 

PART ONE:

Step 1:

We will watch a short video about communities together with the class. Name the three types of communities that are discussed in the video. Turn and talk to your partner and record them on your worksheet for question #1.  When done with your turn and talk and recording your answers, move to Step 2.

Step 2:

Based on the viewing of the video and what you have learned previously in our lessons about communities, turn and talk with your partner to decide what type of communitiy Pemberton Township, New Jersey may be. 

Record your answer on your worksheet for question #2. 

When done, continue to Step 3.

Step 3:

Now you will learn more about Pemberton Township.  To find the answers to questions #3 through #5, you will need to click on the link below and read about the history of Pemberton Township.  Read the first paragraph only to research your answers.  Be sure to turn and talk with your partner to discuss your responses to the questions.  When you are done your questions, to get back to your activity, click the tab that says Pemberton Township, New Jersey.

When done, continue to Step 4.

Step 4:

Townships have Mayors.  Name the mayor of Pemberton Townhip by clicking on the link below.  Record the Mayor's name on your writing worksheet and include the Mayor's term (time in office) for question #6-part A. and B.  When you are done your questions, to get back to your activity, click the tab that says Pemberton Township, New Jersey.

• You will receive two grades.
• The worksheet will be graded and count as one grade.
• "Your Final Task" Community will be the second grade.  I will be looking that it represents either an urban, suburban, or rural community.  I will also be looking for great team work!
