Process

Step 1 - The Interview

On Friday, April 28, Mr. Fabiano's sixth-grade class faced a dilemma. Mr. Fab was absent and the substitute never arrived. What will these sixth grader's do - tell the secretary, have an all-day party, or carry out the day as usual?   What would you choose to do if it were your classroom? What might some of your friends decide?

Before reading Flying Solo by Ralph Fletcher:

  1. Conduct two interviews with your peers.
  • Write a total of five questions for each interview (the questions may be asked for each interview).
  • Use this website to help you construct questions and conduct the interview:  http://www.roguecom.com/interview/overview.html
  • Record your peers' responses to your questions.  Sample questions include:
    • Would you tell the secretary your classroom is teacherless?  Why or why not...
    • If you did not tell, what would you want to happen that day?
  • Share how you might handle the dilemma. Write one paragraph 7 to 9 sentences describing how you would handle the teacherless situation.
