Volcanoes Creators or Destroyers:

Introduction

This webquest is intended to introduce grade nine Geography students to volcanoes and its effects on humans and its environment. 

Task

1. Students will be given an handout with accompanied questions to complete.

2. Students will Create a brochure on a volcano inclusive of intrusive and extrusive features.

3. Create a model of a volcano to show its structures.

4. Students will create a story board about a volcano that exist in the Caribbean.

Process

 Ten Questions on Handouts (10 marks)  

Brochure on a volcano inclusive of 5 intrusive and 5 extrusive features (15 marks).

Creativity = 5 marks

Identifies 5 intrusive features =  5 marks

Identifies 5 extrusive features =  5 marks

 Create a model of a volcano to show its structures (20 marks).

Creativity=  5 marks

Content = 10 marks

Complete task = 5 marks

Use of appropriate pictures = 5 marks

Correct content/ information in story = 10 marks

Conclusion

By completing this storyboard and the other activities students will gain the prerequisit knowledge for the topic volcanoes for the geography CSEC sylabus and the CSEC examination.
