Just be you

Introduction

The following activity is intended to explore the various causes and behaviors of toxic masculinity through the song "Father Time" by Kendrick Lamar, in this song Kendrick explores long-standing toxic masculinity that is passed down from generation to generation, sometimes actively by a father who is present, and other times through the absence of a father figure.

The activity's objective is that each student knows how to recognize the different attitudes that make them have toxic masculinity and what behaviors "not accepted by society" they would like to be seen as common things. For this, they will also watch a video explaining toxic masculinity and its attitudes.

Task

The task of the students will be to watch the videos given by the teacher, create a short essay on the reasons, attitudes, and culprits that men have for their toxic masculinity, then the men must create a small presentation with slides or infographics, which teach what type of "accepted" attitudes they do not like in masculine society and which they would like to be more accepted, women should do the same but making it known what they like and what they do not like about the different attitudes of men. men, who, for them, are toxic masculinity.

Process

Process for the activity:

1. Students should watch the first video "What is toxic masculinity" by Pop culture detective, to give an introduction to those who do not know what toxic masculinity is.

2. Then they will listen to the song "Father Time" by Kendrick Lamar, this song is intended for students to understand one of the causes and consequences that certain upbringings have in a person's life, resulting in toxic masculinity, depression, violence, or mental problems.

3. At the end of watching each video, they must create an essay on the reasons, attitudes, and the different culprits that society has for toxic masculinity. Minimum 300 words

4. At the end of the essay, the men should create a presentation with slides or infographics about the "accepted" attitudes they do not like in male society and which they would like to see more accepted. Women should make the same presentation, but presenting what they like and what they don't like about the different attitudes of men, and what makes them have fragile masculinity. (minimum 3 slides)
