Introduction
By Jessica Ramsey
Jennifer is a 19 year old college student. In her high school days she was in great shape! Jennifer played 2 sports and was always on the go, but decided that she no longer wanted to play sports once she got to college. Since she started college, Jennifer has gained 15 pounds and is looking for a way to get into better shape before summer break. Jennifer came to you to design aprogram to help her lose weight!
Task
Work in groups of 2 to design a six week workout plan to help Jennifer get into her goal body by summer. You must use a combination of weight lifting and cardio exercises in the plan.
At the end of the plan, write a breif summary of the plan the explains the breakdown of the different days and their muscle group focus. You must also explain why you chose to use the rotation of cardio and weight lifting that you did.
At the end, write an individual reflection summary about what you learned and how you could use this in your own life.
Process
In groups of 2 complete the following:
Use the internet to search for resources....by resources I mean exapmles of workouts for this type of situation. This is ONLY so you can see how to organize your thoughts and how to organize the workout so it is easy to understand. you may also use your book. Just remember, I WILL CHECK FOR PLAGARISM!
Using a template from microsoft office, put your workout into an easy to understand exercise planner. '
Write the summary.
After you have completed the workout and the summary, make me a list of how each person contributed.
Email me the assignment ONE TIME in a folder titled "JENNIFER'S WORKOUT" and be sure that both names are on BOTH the plan and the summary.
Write your individual Summary and email it to me separately.
Evaluation
How will you be Graded?
Your 6 week plan will be graded in 3 parts.
Organization: Was the information organized into a well designed, easy to follow template?
Accuracy: Do the muscle groups fit with the workouts that you put them with and did you use the proper balance of cardio and weight lifting (which we went over in chapter 12, but in case you forgot it's in your book) for weight loss? Did you include rest days?
Variation:Everyone knows that if you repeat workouts over and over and over that eventually your body doesnt have the same reaction as when you first started. For example, if you run 20 minutes a day, then day 30 will be easier to complete than day 1. So for this part of the plan I am looking to see a progession from day 1 to the last day. I am also looking to see that the workouts do not repeat more than 5 times in the 6 weeks. REMEMBER: VARYING WORKOUTS PRODUCES BETTER RESULTS. At the same time, don't be all over the place.
Your summary will be graded based on how much sense it makes. Simple. Do you know why you chose what you chose for this plan?
Individual summares should be self explanatory. What did you learn and how can you apply it?
The Summaries count for 20% (10% each) of the project and the Plan counts for 80%.
SUMMARIES MUST BE TIMES NEW ROMAN 12 PT FONT, DOUBLE SPACED.
Conclusion
This assignment will serve as your EOC exam. Our exam day is scheduled for exactly 3 weeks from today.
