Journey to China

Introduction

If You Traveled To China And You Are From Flordia It Is Very Diffrent From China .China Speaks Spanish And Flordia Speaks English . China Mostly Makes All The Toys In The World And Sends Them To Diffrent States In America.

Task

Working in the groups you are allocated to by your teacher, and using the group roles you are given (which you will find out about shortly), you are to create yourself as a Japanese teenager who is coming to Australia on a cultural exchange with the Mackay-Matsuura Sister City Relationship in July.                                               

You will be required to construct an “online book” to record in detail, your character, including your name, likes and dislikes and some information on how you live. 

 

Your teacher will allocate you into groups of four and each of you will be given a role.  Your roles will be used to influence the creation of your persona by determining the type of personal attributes and character you will have as a Japanese Teenager.  Your character and attributes will ultimately determine if you will be eligible to join the cultural exchange from Matsuura to Mackay.

 

Once you have completed your “online book” about yourself as a Japanese teenager, as a group you will be required to compile and present your じこしょうかい (self-introduction).  This will need to include all of the information you have researched as part of the process during your engagement in this web quest task.

 

Your final and authentic production will consist of:

1. A detailed description of the Japanese teenager persona your group created and developed.  

2. A  じこしょうかい (self-introduction) which your group has written.  

3. Compilation (as a class) of an email to be sent to Matsuura City. 

 

                           





What will you do with these productions?:

 

a) You will record the creation and development of your Japanese persona in your online book on your group website. 

b) You will record your じこしょうかい (self-introduction) in your online book also, and you will also present it to the rest of the class.

c) Construct and send and email sharing sharing the URLs of your online books and welcoming the visiting student group due in July.

d) Present your URLs to our local student, Kaitlin, who is travelling to Japan on a year long cultural exchange to Japan this year to assist her in her journey. Along with the nine other local students who will travel to Japan this year also on a short cultural exchange.

e) Finally, you will use your knowledge to allow you to apply the information and experience you have gained from this task to interact and communicate effectively with peers your own age from Matsuura, Japan when they visit Mackay later this year.
