The Rock and Roll Era Webquest

Introduction

This webquest will be used to gather information on the Rock and Roll Era and the music that influenced Americans at that time. You will learn about different musicians, instruments, and songs that were being performed at that time. Having this knowledge will help you understand the active and lively nightlife of the Americans during the 1950s and will show you how similar the themes and ideas of the music are to the poems we have studied in class.

It's your job to move from website to website to gather information about the Rock and Roll Era using the guided questions provided on your Webquest sheet. The questions are not in the same order as the websites are, so you may have to travel between the sites to find your answers. Here is a tip for you: read all of the questions first. This will help you understand what you're looking for as you're reading through the webpages.

Indepentant Research/Homework: Find four facts regarding the Rock and Roll Era that are not presented in above websites

Day Two Projects: Put together a five miniute oral presentation( example power point or dramic role play) or poster on learned materials

Evaluation

The point values go as follows:

  • Questions 1-8: 1 point each
  • Question 9: 2 points
  • Question 10: 5 points
  • Presentation: 10 points
  • Bonus, 4 Indepentant Facts: 2 points for each 
  • Appropriate Use of Time: 2 points

Total: 35 points

You will only have ONE in-class period to complete this.
