Introduction
Students will design their own dream home. Then you will determine scale the drawing and find the cost.
Process
I. Design your Home - Be sure to label dimensions
- look at the different types of floor plans
- your plan does not have to be like any of these, but you should sketch in a similar way to these floor plans
II. Sketch to the scale of 3/8 in = 2 feet - label this in a table
III. Determine what else you will need - you can use other sites, but here are samples
You will need to find the area of your house to find how much concrete you will need.
You should estimate walls to be about 8 ft high, unless you want taller.
You will need to find the area of the walls for drywall and paint.
You will need to check the specs of the paint to see how many square feet it will cover.
Other:
List at least 3 of each type (doors and windows) and the amount you will need for your home, and the cost.
IV. Determine the total cost of your home.
V. Present your dream home to the class, talking about special features and cost.
Evaluation
