Lesson 1-2: More Geometric Figures!

Introduction

Learning Targets:

  • Describe angles and angle pairs
  • Identify and name parts of circles

As you're completing this webquest, make sure you use mathematical terms and academic vocabulary precisely! Make notes to help you remember hte meaning of new works and how they are used to describe mathematical ideas.

Task

Thie webquest will help you explain angles and angle pairs! This should be a review from previous math classes.

Your task is to start with the "Introduction" page to look at the lesson essential question and objectives. You will then move to the "Process" page and follow the directions provided.

It is important that you answer all parts of questions and use complete sentences when asked. This will be used as a formative grade for the marking period! You may work through the webquest individually or with a partner.

Process

Completethe following steps on a piece of paper. Make sure you complete all parts of each steps. It is essential to follow directions!

Step 1: Draw four angles with different characteristics. Describe each angle.

Step 2: Using the angles you drew in Step 1, name the angles using numbers and letters.

Step 3: Compare and contrast each pair of angles below:

Step 4: Recall that the sum of the measures of complementary angles is 90 degrees and the sum of hte measures of supplementary angles is 180 degrees.

The figure below shows two intersecting lines. Name two angles that are supplementary to <4.

Step 5: Reason quantitatively. Explain why the angles you named in Step 4 must have the same measure. This should be done in complete sentences.

Evaluation

When you have completed all five steps under the Process tab, you will turn in your work for a formative grade.
