Introduction
This WebQuest is built to provide a fun resource for young students to practice their letter and sound recognition skills.
Minnesota state standard for print concepts 0.3.0.1d states that, kindergarten students will “Recognize and name all upper- and lowercase letters of the alphabet.”
This WebQuest is a tool to assist students in meeting this educational goal.
There will also be a portion for advanced students to read.
Task

Your task is to practice letter names and sounds.
There are a variety of songs to listen to and games to play that will assist you in learning these letter names and sounds. Choose a few you like and have fun! The games are in this order:

3. building words

Begin by listening to an alphabet song to get your mind in the grove. Then move on to a task of your choosing. An adult can assist you in finding a task that is at your level. Remember I look forward to seeing what you have learned so have fun practicing!

Evaluation
Prior to completing this WebQuest, each student will be tested on their knowledge of 26 uppercase letters, 26 lowercase letters, and 26 letter sounds. The letters will be placed on mats in random order for testing purposes. Upon the completion of this WebQuest, the students will be tested again to see the gains that they have made. Please see the attached rubric. You may also use my testing mat and recording sheet if you wish. These documents are linked here as Googledocs.
**Note if there is a student who is struggling greatly, they may have a modified rubric that will show their personal growth.
