The Islamic Golden Age

You are a new historian.  Your interest?  Islamic history!  Your job is to find information on Islamic achievements during the Golden Age of Islam.  Don't know what that is?  Looks like you just found your first step!  You should find information invloving Islamic conquests, cultural/religous advances, and technological advances.  Continue onward for more information!

By the end of your research, you should have a sufficient knowledge of Islamic achievements during the Islamic Golden Age.  This should include Islamic conquests and expansions in the Arab Empire, cultural and religous advances including art and interprations of the Quran, and technological advances.  For your final product, you should have at least one paragraph of information on each of these three items on one Google Doc.  That is AT LEAST one paragraph of information FOR EACH of these three items, not one in total!

Use your Social Studies book and the attached websites to conduct your research.  There will be two Google Docs on classroom, one for each of you - one of them is for your research and another is for your final product.  They will be clearly marked.

You will be evaluated on three parts of your final product (not your research).  Each is out of three points, and your final score gets multiplied by ten to be out of 90 points.

1. Quality of information
2. Compliance with directions
3. Writing

Quality Of Information

This evaluates your use of sources.  Writing the required amount with quality, informational text is key to scoring high in this section.  Filler sentences, obvious facts and repeated information will lose you points.

Compliance with Directions

This evaluates how well you followed the directions.  Writing the required amount, using the given sources, and creating your product on the correct document is key to scoring high in this section.  Failing to read and comply with the directions given will lose you points.

Writing

This evaluates the quality of your writing.  Correct grammar and punctuation is key to scoring high in this section.  Not writing coherently, using incorrect grammar and punctuation, and not demonstrating sentence variety will lose you points.

DO NOT Continue to the Conclusion until AFTER you have completed the project.

Congratulations!  You have finished your research.  You should have found information regarding Islamic conquests, cultural/religous advances and technological advances in the Islamic Golden Age; if you didn't do that, you may want to reread the directions and repeat the project.  Hopefully, you enjoyed this project and want to learn more.  You can find extra websites, and if the websites contain quality information, you will be awarded five extra points per website.  Nice job and keep it up!
