Introduction
Hello class, my name is Coach Benton. 
This course is designed to bring the student to an approach at athletic conditioning and strength training. You can be brand new to fitness or a advanced lifter but this program will teach you the background of certain types of lifts and understand the true meaning of strength and conditioning. There will be times that there's no weights involved, or there could just be bands. Our goal in this classroom is to develop hard work, communication, skills, planning, being organized, and seeing results. In this class you will be able to walk out the gym doors and no you have improved your overall body and mind from when you entered the gym and left. 

Task
Students will develop a weight-training program based on a personal fitness goal. Students will be instructed in basic principles of strength training & conditioning for personal fitness and development. The course focus is on strength training which includes instruction in lifts & principles of strength training and conditioning. Students will be provided quality workout opportunity based on the strength training principles taught. Topics, which may be explored, include systematic strength training, plyometric (explosion) training, speed & agility training, physiology of exercise, and other training methods.

Process
Through the semester, students will look into the background of understanding strength and conditioning with the body. This list below is some important key factors on what we will be going over in the class.
This course will be taught at the college level. The Programs that are provided through the class are assigned by what your mind set is entering the course. I am available to assist any student on what kind of goals they want to reach. In the first week of class we will set down and create your planner with a workout and goal in mind to develop by the end of the semester.

Evaluation
Evaluation Criteria:



Dress, Participation and Attitude
Students are awarded 10 points per day for changing clothes, full participation, attendance and having a positive, encouraging attitude.
- Points will be deducted for any violation of the class rules.
- Daily participation will make up 60% of your grade.
Testing/Quizzes and Homework
Students will be put through a series of weight lifting tests at the beginning of the semester, a mid-term exam and the final examination. Evaluations will be made consistently on the students’ progress of their lifting programs. Semester students will also be responsible for developing, following and completing weight lifting programs.
- Testing will make up 20% of your grade.
- Homework will make up 20% of your grade.
Make-up Policy
Students are allowed to make up any excused absence with me. Students will be able to make up days they miss during each marking period. Make up days must be completed before the end of the current marking period. Make up days will consist of teacher instructed/monitored weight lifting after school sessions.

Conclusion
Healthy living is a combination of many things, including good nutrition, regular exercise and a positive attitude. Taking care of your body and feeling pride in your accomplishments can improve both your physical and mental health. There are many things you can do to improve your quality of life - improving your diet and exercising regularly are two of the easiest steps. No matter how small you start, you can make a change and an improvement in your life. When you complete this class, I will make you a folder showing the improvements you have made through the course. Always remember to give it a 100% and you will get back 100% results.
