Introduction
We will be starting our poetry unit today. Although a lot of you might not like poetry, I am hoping to change your views on it by the end of this unit. In order to begin, you will be introduced to some famous poetry and to the most common poetry terms that you will need to know in order to understand poetry. You will then be introduced to a easy acronym to help you better understand how to read and analyze poetry.
Task
1.) You will begin by reading two poems from two great poets and answer some basic questions. You will also rate these poems on a scale of 1-10 and tell why you like them.
2.) Define and list examples of figurative language terms that you will need in order to better understand poetry.
3.) Read about the acronym TP-CASTT and how it will help you better understand and analyze poetry.
4.) Familiarize yourself with a few types of poems.
5.) Create an original poem talking about your feelings about poetry.
Process
Begin by reading the poem "A Rose that Grew from Concrete" and answering the questions that accompany the poem.
Evaluation
You will be evaluated by your completion of this webquest and creation of an original poem on your thoughts about poetry.
