Intro to Ancient Egypt, Pyramids at Giza

Task

Today, you are going to go on an online journey to Egypt, to visit the Pyramids of Giza.

The Giza Pyramids, built to endure an eternity, have done just that. The monumental tombs are relics of Egypt's Old Kingdom era and were constructed over 4,500 years ago. 

Follow the links in the Process tab to access information about the Giza Pyramid (Necropolis) Complex, read all of the information about the structures in the Egyptian historical multipart carefully so that you can easily answer the questions in the Responses section of your Year 7 Ancient Egypt Learning Centre 

You should spend at least 5 minutes reading and gathering information from each website before moving onto the next one in the list.

Process

Let's begin! 

 

1. Go to this website and look at the map of the Giza Pyramid Complex. Pay special attention to the three main structures and other important features of the complex. 

 

2. Visit these three websites to gather more information about the3 main pyramids in the Giza Necropolis, you will need to answer some questions with specific information and facts about the structures. 

 

3. Visit the National Geographic website and finish your research into the reasons why the Pyramids of Giza were built and when. 

 

4.  Use your research to answer the research questions displayed in the Year 7 Ancient Egypt Learning Centre: Section 1: WebQuest page and then demonstrate your understanding in the Responses tab.
