You are among a team of Early Learners who will travel to a country on the continent of Asia called China. You and your fellow early learner explorers will gather information about China and help to decide whether the Forbidden City in China is real place. Only prepared travelers are allowed to travel to another China. Mission Control (Mrs. Hamilton) is in charge of issuing passport for the explorers then you will take off. While visiting and exploring the country on the continent of Asia you will collect, organize and present all of your information to other Early Learners.

Your first job is to earn your passport to travel to China. You and your fellow team members will work along with your parent to meet the pre-flight requirements.

Exploring China
Once you have arrived at your destination, your job is to explore and to gather data. You and your fellow early learners/parent will work as a team to collect information. You will need to collect enough information to fill out the Data Collection Sheets for Mission Control
Collecting Data:
You and your fellow travelers must collect the following information. Record the information on the Data Collection Sheet.
- What is the correct name of the country
- Great Wall (Why was the Great Wall built?
- Great Wall (Where in the world can the longest wall be found?)
- Panda (What is the panda's favorite food?)
- Chopsticks (How many chopsticks are used together?)
- Forbidden City (Is the forbidden City a real place?)
The Forbidden City
Communicate with Mission Control:
- Send information collected back to Mission Control. Send a Postcard with a picture drawing of the Great Wall of China
Return to your Home Town and Debriefing session:
- Organize your data into a chart and present your data to the other other Early Learners and Mission Control. Be sure to explain whether the Forbidden City is a real place.
Process

First, Mission Control (your teacher) will assign you to a team.

Contact Mission Control for your country's destination.

Fill it in with your name Ask Mission Control to sign it.

Print the data collection sheet

Select data sheet, complete with information about the country of China.

You are now ready to start collecting data. Parents will assist.

Next, click on one of the Web Site links for the country China. Watch video, write answer under the correct questions on the Data Collection Sheets

When you have finished watching the video, on the first Web Site, view another Web site link for the country China..

Now you are ready to write the rough copy for your great Wall postcard.

Draw a picture of the Great Wall of China.

Using the notes you have made, answer questions on your Data Collection Sheets each person must write answer to questions and send to Mission Control.

Be sure to include the additional facts you have collected about the country China. Share the favorite part of your adventure. You may write or draw.

Remember to write the in complete sentences. Be sure to allow parents to assist you to spell words correctly, and use capital letters and punctuation where appropriate.

Finally, you will share the information you've collected about the country China at a debriefing session back from China at Mission Control. View photo album and label sites in China. Practice how you will present your data and explain whether the Forbidden City is a real place. Use a clear, loud voice. Make eye contact with your audience when sharing your photo album.
Evaluation
Your Mission Name signed, Country Passport, Data Collection Sheet, Great Wall postcard, Photo Album with picture, and presentation about the country China will be evaluated. Check to ensure that you have completed all the steps in the webquest.
