Instruments of the Orchestra

Introduction

Orchestra instruments are divided into 4 different families.  Each different instrument family contains several different instruments.  You will become familiar with each family of instruments and their unique characteristics.

Task

You are going to create a chart about the instrument families that make up an Orchestra.  Fill in the chart in your google classroom assignment.

After you gather all the information you are going to create your own instrument and tell me which family it would belong to.  You are going to create it in the Slides I have attached to your assignment.  If you prefer to draw your instrument by hand you may.

The page says quizzes, but most are games.  The top left hand list is all dedicated to the instruments you have been studying.  Please let me know if there is a problem getting these to work on your chrome book.

This WebQuest is about learning the different families of instruments in the orchestra, and finding out details about individual instruments, and allowing students to display their knowledge and creativity.  The time frame for completing this webquest is estimated to take up to three class meetings, but may take more depending on the students familiarity with the technology provided. Ideally the students are given enough time to complete both the webquest activities, and are able to play the various educational games on the websites provided while developing their musical knowledge.
