Topic: Data communication, networking, and the internet.
Objectives: At the end of the lesson students should be able to:
1. Explain services offered on the Internet, and how these services are accessed.
2. Discuss how the services are accessed. Should include Web address: protocol, domain, path (absolute and/or relative), and web resource.
3. Explanation of how a web page is accessed. Should include an open web browser, reference DNS, translate IP address, directed to the web page. Services of the Internet should include email, chat rooms/IRC, FTP, VoIP, newsgroups, message board, and instant messaging.
4. Identify types of websites. Should include educational, personal, wiki, portals, blogs, social networking, news, informational, and business/marketing.
Task
1. Write down 5 words that come to mind when you hear the word internet and 5 words that come to mind when you hear the word services. From the words, you've written formulate a definition for internet services.
2. Write down a list of at least 8 things that you use the internet for. Once you've made the list of things click the link below to watch the video. From the video, you must answer the following questions.
1. Identify at least five services offered on the internet and compare them to the answers you wrote before.
2. What is the internet and how do we access it?

Definition: Definition: Internet Services means the service provided to you by us using digital or analog technology to enable you to gain access to the Internet and certain services, whether by means of television, personal computer, or otherwise.
Evaluation
Using one of the services on the internet write a message to a friend telling him or her about at least three services available on the internet, what the internet is and how he or she can access the internet. Please upload your completed assignment to google classroom by the end of class time.
