Introduction
ICT is an umbrella term used to encompass all rapidly emerging, evolving and converging computer, software, networking, telecommunications, Internet, programming and information systems technologies. Historically, many of these fields developed separately, in different companies, departments and R&D groups, and at different times. With rapid improvements in computer processing power, networking technology advances, programming interface improvements, widespread adoption of Internet Protocols, integration into organizational strategic operations, and improved workforce and user competencies, however, these fields are rapidly converging.
Students who major in ICT can expect to work in positions where they are the communication link between people, organizations and the technologies used to support those organizations’ information infrastructures.
Task
The students will be able to know how to create documents, tables, spreadsheets, etc.
Selecting, highlighting and formatting practice – 4 different documents (of varying complexity). A poem about cats; a restaurant menu; information about dogs, cats and trees! (some are also suitable for reading & comprehension work). Two include formatting instructions, others are to be reproduced as closely as possible to practice advanced formatting skills.
Physical format: 4 pages
Process
We have outlined hypothetical mechanisms by which highlighting might aid memory, and particular features of highlighting that would be necessary for these mechanisms to be effective.
The students will be able to answer this questions.
1. What’s So Important About Formatting?
2. How do you format a poem?
3. How often do you use a computer outside of work?
Evaluation
On the basis of the available evidence, we rate highlighting and underlining as having low utility. In most situations that have been examined and with most participants, highlighting does little to boost performance. It may help when students have the knowledge needed to highlight more effectively, or when texts are difficult, but it may actually hurt performance on higher level tasks that require inference making. Future research should be aimed at teaching students how to highlight effectively, given that students are likely to continue to use this popular technique despite its relative ineffectiveness.
Conclusion
Thank you for learning and cooperation for my topic about Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Selecting, highlighting and formatting practice.
