Introduction
With over 7,600 islands and three main island groups, it's no surprise that the Philippines has a diverse range of cultural customs, rituals, and groups. Indigenous tribes have continued to preserve their cultural identity among the archipelago's current populations, despite the non-recognition and marginalization they face. With an estimated 14- 17 million Indigenous Peoples (IPs) belonging to 110 ethnolinguistic groups, the Philippines is a culturally diverse country. They are mostly concentrated in Northern Luzon (Cordillera Administrative Region, 33%) and Mindanao (61%) with some communities in the Visayas region.
In this lesson, we will be focusing on the indigenous people in the Mindanao region and learn about the different indigenous tribes, their culture, some of their contributions, and the issues these ethnic groups are facing in the modern time. In addition, you are expected to formulate ideas on the preservation of their cultural identity, create Poster Slogan with the aim of empowerment and recognition of such groups.

Evaluation
Once your done reading the articles posted in the Process section, you now have enough knowledge on the history of the ethnic groups in the Philippines, the different groups from different regions specifically in Mindanao, their customs and traditions, their culture, the issues and problems that they have right now and the laws that guides and protects them.
You are now tasked to do 2 activities:
(1) Create a slogan with a concept of empowerment and cultural preservation of the ethnic groups in Mindanao. You are allowed to use either English or Tagalog.
(2) formulate or create an action plan of your own about the preservation of the indigenous groups in Mindanao. The purpose of your action plan should fit the concept of preserving the ethnic groups of Mindanao (you may include their culture, customs, tradition, or even the contributions they have done) Post your output using any digital channel of your choice. As a youth and an active citizen of society, make your action plan as achievable as possible

Conclusion
The ethnic groups in Mindanao and the other regions are one of the proofs of us being Filipinos. They have lived in this nation for many centuries and are continuing to survive despite the challenges posed by modern times. As people of the Philippines, we must protect and preserve what they have built and contributed; the Filipino identity, the culture that until now we practice, the customs and traditions that they cultivated and passed through generations. We, as a culturally diverse nation, are being called to protect and preserve the Filipino identity.
