1. Purpose of descriptive text: to describe a particular place/ thing/ person

2. Generic structure:

  • Identification (explain about general information of the person, place or thing that is described). For example a descriptive text about an actress, the identification is about the introduction of the actress’ name, the age of the actress, where he or she comes from.
  • Description (explain about specific information). For example the hair, eyes, nose, what she or he wears, and all about the characteristic of the actress.

3. Language Features:

a. Have specific participant/place

e.g. The Borobudur Temple

e.g. Jude Law

 

b. Using simple present tense

e.g. The color of the building is black

e.g. Borobudur is the biggest temple in Indonesia

 

c. Using noun phrase

      e.g. a beautiful and comfortable building

For the people of West Java, where Gedung Sate is now the headquarters of the Provincial Government of West Java gives pride.                                                                           Candi Borobudur

Borobudur is the biggest temple in Indonesia. Note down the important information you need for describe the picture. Type the descriptive text on the paper size A4 with Times New Roman font and 12 for the size. Submit it in the next meeting. Remember that you should describe the picture with your own words. Don't copy paste the paragraphs from the internet or your score will be reduced.
