Introduction
Adolescence is is a time of growth children,for both physical and mental development. A healthy diet is essential for teenagers because of their heightened nutritional needs, and because the food that they eat as teenagers can impact their health when they reach adulthood.(livestrong,com)
As a result this lesson aims to help students to think about making healthier food choices, what to increase and what to decrease both at school and at home.They will also explore benefits and consequences of eating healthy.
Task
Your task will be to learn how to maintain a balance diet and the importance of such. They will be placed in group where they will be asked to research the websites listed and create a presentation or chart to teach the class about healthy eating. Group 1 will look at what is balanced diet and list healthy five ways to improve health. Group two will list seven benefits of maintaining a balanced diet and group two will look at the different food groups to choose from. Each group will be given twenty minutes to complete their research and presentation for the class. Websites are listed on the teacher page.
Process
1. The teacher will divide the class into three groups and students will be provided with a list of websites to research their topics.
2.Paper for note taking, pencils and chart papers will be provided.
3.The class will be conducted in the computer lab so students can do research on the internet.
4. Group members will work together to answer questions on worksheet provided by the teacher.
5. For the next class, students will write a letter to their parents asking them to facilitate their healthy meal choices, giving reasons and stating benefits.
Evaluation
The students will work together to complete a one week healthy meal plan and present it to the class.They will give reasons for their choices and identify the answers to the assigned questions.
Conclusion
At this point,you should understand why you should make better food choices in order to remain or become healthy. You should also understand that the choices that you make now can have either positive or negative effects on your life later.
