The Impact of Solar Energy on community development

Introduction

The. Emergence of the 21st century saw a rise in the use of solar energy globally. More people, countries, companies and various entities now prefer solar over the conventional types of energy due to its perks i.e it is environmentally friendly and also it is available in abundance. This quest seeks to outline the potential benefits of solar energy in the rural communities. 

 

The developed world is leading in the use of solar energy and 

has also made it palatable for domestic use. China, the United States and the European Union 

lead solar power generation as of 2019, these countries have distributed solar installations in 

homes, commercial buildings and industrial facilities are expected to double by 2024 

accounting for 50% of total growth in solar power (IEA, 2019).

With the developed world having proved that Solar energy is reliable, cheap and handy more calls to adopt solar were echoed hence the use of solar energy globally and in communities such as those found in sub-Saharan Africa as will be expounded in this essay.

  • Solar energy boosts household income through a provision of affordable energy services which in turn are a lucrative need for the communities 
  • To add on, solar energy provides access to quality education for all through provision of power for technological accessories and reading lights 
  • Community nutrition needs are met through solarized water schemes that help irrigation activities to boom in the areas. Farmers grow an array of food staffs hence boosting their nutritional needs. 
  • Solar Energy helps rural communities to fit in the global village by powering up households, this ensures that connectivity is never lost but people have means of communicating with people abroad anytime.

Solar energy significantly contributes to community development by providing access to reliable and affordable electricity, fostering economic growth, and promoting sustainable development. It enables access to essential services like education and healthcare, empowers local businesses, and creates job opportunities. Furthermore, solar energy helps mitigate climate change by reducing reliance on fossil fuels and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. 

Conclusion

In conclusion, solar energy is an engine of sustainable community development through it's various uses such as water schemes, domestic electrification and educational uses. If properly harnessed solar energy goes a long way in providing clean and dependable energy
