How To Do Factor Trees

Introduction

Hello World,

My name is Ms. Thomas and I am here to tell you how to do Prime factorization or better known as Factor Trees. They are simple and easy. The most important thing for you to know is how to multiply, divide, and know what Prime and composite numbers are. Make sure you focus and pay attention to the tabs to fully understand what to do. The point of doing factor trees are to make it easier to fing the fsctor of numbers without doing the extra work. Hope you have fun doing this. Wishing you the best of luck.

                                                     sincerly, Ms. Thomas

Task

My task for you is to take the numbers I give you. Use your super duper brain power and super knowledge. Figure out what the those numbers are in the smallest form, and make them into exponents and figure out what the GCF (greatest common factor).

Process

This is just to simplify how to do what I said before. The two numbers you will be evaluating are 4 and 16.

The process is simple:

  • Take the Numbers (4 and 16) and break them down
  • when you are writing the numbers that go into them circle the prime numbers. (those numbers matter the most)
  • Take those prime numbers and write them out. P.S. There is most likely going to be more then one of some of the numbers, if there is make it an exponent
  • once you are done with that make them exponents or regular numbers write them down
  • Choose the GCF (greatest common factor) out of the all the numbers you have
  • multiply the first two numbers and then what ever other numbers you have
  • finally solve and get you should have the answer :)
Evaluation

You will be evaluated on the creativity of your poster board and the amount of things you got correct whlie working out the problems.

total- 100 points

correct process and answers- 50 points

creativity- 50 points

Conclusion

I hope you enjoyed doing this and learning if you have never done this before. thank you for doing this project if you decided to have an amazing school year and a happy life.

      Ms. Thomas
