Introduction
Hi everyone!
My name is Elena de la Cuerda and welcome to my webquest.
Have you ever learned Maths through a film? If it's your first time, this is your place.
Today we will become to be researchers and we will know what some mathematicians contributed through the film Fremat's room.
Traveling through the web, we will know if what was discovered centuries ago, today, we still use it.
Do you want to learn more?Let´s start the adventure!
To begin, here is the link to the trailer ….. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meE5fqX61KA
Task
As researchers, we must perform different activities that allow us to expand our knowledge about the mathematical world. The activities that we propose will consist of the following:
-
You must work as a group (maximum 5 people) investigating who is each of these characters and what they contributed to mathematics (Go to the Glogster)
-
Then, you must go and put on the wall everything you have researched and believe is important.
-
In the end, we elaborate a conceptual map by groups
Process
In order for our trip to be very profitable, we must follow the following steps:
1. The first thing to do is to form groups of 5 people.
2. Second step: Consulting the Glogster and going to the pages you think are convenient, locate the following information on the Web:
-
Who is that person?
-
What did he contribute to mathematics
-
Explains the discovery or contribution made by said character
3. Third step: In teams, go to the mural and put those data in common with the class.
4. Fourth step: Make a mural with all the data.
Enjoy your trip!
In addition, we need to use these resources to do our activities:

Evaluation
To evaluate the performance of the work performed as well as if the criteria were met based on the proposed objectives, with the help of the following rubric, the team's performance and the achievements obtained at the end of the project will be measured objectively and comprehensively.
It will be rated from 1 to 4, with 4 being excellence, for this we will base ourselves on 5 essential points:
Rubric 1 2 3 4
| Content: With the help of the multiple tools found on the web, the work should cover the different assigned guidelines, applying meaningful and enriching information | ||||
| Organization: There must be an order of ideas when presenting them in the mural, if this is not fulfilled they will be subtracted points according to the agreement | ||||
| Accentuation: It is essential that before submitting the project it is checked if it has an excellent spelling | ||||
| Originality: The originality of your conceptual map will be counted | ||||
| Requirements: Having complied with each of the previous sections or having exceeded expectations will be assigned one more point in their final evaluation, if the case is not so satisfactory the rating will remain the same |
Conclusion
At the end of the activities, they will have an idea of the contributions that these people made to mathematics. You will have noticed that there are many resources on the internet that can help us to deepen certain topics.
In addition, the study of these contributions allows you to know a little more about our world.
I hope you have enjoyed this virtual trip around the world and that you have learned a lot.
