Introduction
Welcome to Ms. Spickard's 4th Grade class!
I have a very special task for each of you to accomplish! With all of the new technology this year we need to make sure that everybody has good safe fun. To do this you will work in teams of 3-4 to help write our classroom rules. It is important that you work well together and come up with something fun!
Task
There are two tasks in this webquest:
First, you will research and learn about what it means to be a good digital citizen. You will play games, read, and watch videos to help you understand.
Second, you will brainstorm together and come up with your rule for the classrooom. Once you have your rule, you will create a fun way to present the rule to the class. BE CREATIVE! Anything can be used to explain your rule as long as it helps everyone understand it.
Process
Research:
Step 1
- Think about what it means to be a citizen. Read the second definitions at Merriam-Webster. Within your group talk about what you think this means when using technology in a classroom. Think of rules you might have at home, and how these help you be a good citizen
Step 2
-Watch this video on how to be a good digital citizen. When you are done see if it matches what you thought being a digital citizen meant.
Step 3:
-Play this CyberPig game on cybersense and nonsense. When you are done write down anything new you have learned or any new rules you thought of.
Pick Your Rule:
Step 1:
- Look at all of the notes you have made and write ten rules.
Step 2:
- As a team, vote on your favorite rule until you have three options
Step 3:
- Ask another team to read your rules and give you feedabck on how easy they are to understand
Step 4:
- Pick your very important rule to share with the class
Create Your Presentation:
Step 1:
- Brainstorm ways to present your rule. Options include: a poem, a limerick, a song, a story, a joke, etc.
ex:
A short limerick that can be recited to remind students of the rule.
there was a young fellow named Brad
who never, oh never was bad
until that day in class
he made a pile of glass
by breaking his precious iPad
Step 2:
- Present your finished product to the class.
Evaluation
This is how your work will be evaluated:
|
Below Expectations (1) |
Met Expectations (2) |
Exceded Expectations (3) |
Score | |
| Research | You did not finish the task | You finished most of the task | You finished the task and did optional research | |
| Collaboration | You did not work well with others | You worked as a team | You made sure the team worked well and finished all of the tasks | |
| Creativity | You copied something you had seen before | You copied something you had seen before but you changed it to fit your ideas | You created something completely unique and original | |
| Final Product | The product does not have to do with Digital Citizenship | The product is on topic and helpful | The product is on topic, helpful, and entertaining |
Conclusion
Great job!
Our class will have so much fun this year, especially when we think about our creative class rules. I hope you had fun with this project, and that you are ready for a great year!
