How does chocolate grow?

Introduction

We know that chocolate comes from cacao beans, but where do the beans come from and how do they grow?

Task

In your notebooks write the date at the top of a new clean page. Then number down the left-hand side 1, 2, and 3. Leave enough space in between your numbers to write your answers, take up the whole page.

Use the websites to answer these three questions in your notebooks:

1) Where do chocolate (cacao) trees grow?

2) Could we grow cacao trees in CAS? Could we grow them in Morocco?

3) What climate(temperature) is the best for growing cacao trees?

Process

Use these three websites to find your information. Take your time and read and look at the pictures carefully. Pay attention to the unit vocabulary that we talked about in the beginning. Whisper with the person next to you if you get stuck on a word or sentence, or raise your hand quietly if you really aren't sure.

Evaluation

Please write neatly because we are going to be looking through your notebooks to see your work.

Conclusion

When you are finished go back to some of the websites and have a look around. There are some really cool pictures and other information throughout!
