Introduction
Have you ever seen a tiny seed turn into a plant? In this lesson, we are going to learn how plants grow and what they need to stay alive. We will talk about questions like what plants need, what happens first, next, and last, and how we can take care of plants. This lesson connects to Florida Kindergarten standards SC.K.L.14.3 (observe plants and animals and describe how they are alike and different), SC.K.N.1.2 (make observations using the five senses), and SC.K.N.1.1 (work together to learn about the world). By the end, students will be able to name what plants need, understand how they grow, and put the steps in order.
Task
Students will work in small groups to make a plant life cycle project. They will plant a seed, watch it grow, and then create a poster or small book to show how a plant grows. At the end, they will share their project with the class.
Process
First, students will watch a short video about how plants grow and we will talk about what we saw. Then students will plant their own seeds in cups with soil, add water, and put them near sunlight. Over the next few days, students will observe their plants and talk about what is changing. I will ask questions like “What do you notice?” and “What looks different today?” After that, students will work in small groups to create a poster or mini book showing the plant life cycle, including a seed, sprout, and plant. Each student will have a role like planter, water helper, observer, or artist.

Evaluation
Students will be evaluated based on if they participated, if they understand what plants need, the effort they put into their project, and how they worked with their group.
Conclusion
In this lesson, students learned how plants grow and what they need to live. They learned that plants need sun, water, and soil, and how to take care of a plant.
