Have you ever wanted to stand up for a cause that you believe in? The novel Hoot is about a boy named Roy who moves to Florida and meets two people who sets out on a mission to save a colony of burrowing owls frok losing their home to a construction site. In this WebQuest, you will learn about the theme of the book, the characters, and the major elements of the book to help you understand the overall message of the story.

Your task in this Webquest is to explore the book Hoot to get an understanding of the themes which are courage, friendship, and protection. There are activities that you will do. You will

1) List the main characters and their character traits

2)Explain the conflict and how it is solved

3) Do your own research on Burrowing owls

4)Explain in your own words the theme of the novel and how it connects to the real world

5) explain the roles in the story

You will:

1)provide a description of the main characters

2) explain WHY the burrowing owls are in trouble

3) explain who in the story is trying to help the burrowing owls

4)list facts about the burrowing owls, use websites links and other resources provided in the credits section 

5)Organize all of your information

6) create a poster, a slideshow, or a presentation on all of the notes for the WebQuest

7) have your tea her review your work first

Your work will be graded based on: 

1) Your clear understanding on the novel including the theme, characters, settings and accurate details from the book

2)Your research on important facts about burrowing owls 

3)Your understanding of the conflict in the novel

4)The theme and how it connects to real life
