Homophones are words that sound the same but are spelled different and have different meanings.

Today we are going to discuss several homophone pairs. We will then use this information to complete our sentences with the correct homophone.

Task

Your job is to read the sentence and decide which homophone will correctly complete the sentence.

Process

Before reading the sentences let's take a look at our chart below.

As you can see some homophones have two meanings and some have three. By looking at the spelling as well as the pictures we are able to gain a better understanding of each homophone pair/group.

Evaluation

I will evaluate students based off of their performance on the sentences.

Beginner: 0-2 sentences correct

Intermediate: 3-5 sentences correct

Advanced: 6-7 sentences correct
