Times are different now from the early 1900's as noticed from the book, The Jungle. In The Jungle, an immigrant family moves to America to try and have a better life. However, because of the harsh times of the early 1900's in The United States, a majority of the family is unable to survive. Some of the main reasons that the family was unable to survive because of the poor living conditions and no access to a well-paying job causing them to starve. Some of these conditions will be researched in the following project.

In conclusion, the family that was the main focus of The Jungle had harsh lives. It is important to understand the historical time periods to know why there are certain regulations and laws or why there is a specific way activities are done today. After completing this project, students should have accomplished this kind of understanding. They should have also realized how times are very different compared to now.
