Spanish Food Webquest: ¡Qué deliciosa!

Introduction

¡Bienvenidos!  Welcome to the 3rd quarter Spanish I project!

Have you ever tried an authentic Spanish dish?

Do you know what people eat in Spain?

In doing this project you have the opportunity to explore these questions, apply what we learned this quarter and learn a little more about Spain.

Task

You will research Spanish food customs on the internet and read a brief article about 'La Merienda' in Scholastic Magazine.  You will then create a Spanish restaurant menu including:

  • 5 authentic Spanish foods with a one sentence description or more of the food
(a picture of the food would be preferred too!)
  • Vocabulary we have used this quarter
  • Prices of the menu items in Euros and American Dollars

Process

Day 1: (Tarea)
1. Read 'La Merienda:  ¡Deliciosa!' (pgs. 8-9) from the Scholastic Magazine.  Answer the questions.  Complete these and turn in before beginning the menu project.  Explore some more with the websites below.

Day 2:

1. Today, you will begin your Spanish Menus. Follow the directions to help you.

2. Open Publisher. From the list on the left hand side, choose "menus." Then click on "Daily Specials" menu. You will have three choices to choose from. Don't worry about color because that can be changed.

3. Begin creating your menu.  You may choose any font and color.

This is your project.  Take pride in it and make it look colorful, nice, and readable.  You must have the following items in your menu:

  • Put the name of your restaurant at the top. (en español)
  • Ex. "El Restaurante de (Your Name)".  If your name is not included in the name of the restaurant, then you must put your name somewhere on the menu.
  • Create a slogan for your restaurant. (en español)
  • Ex. "¡La comida más deliciosa!"
  • 5 authentic Spanish foods
  • Include a one sentence description or more of the food (a picture of the food would be preferred too!)
  • Prices of the menu items in Euros and American Dollars

2. Here are some resources for Spanish foods and recipes:

Conclusion

¡Felicidades!  ¡Has terminado!  You have finished!  I hope that you have learned enough information about Spanish cuisine so that you may someday order in a Spanish restaurant.  You don't have to go to Spain to eat at Spanish place.  There are several here in Arizona.  I encourage you to visit them someday!
