I AM DIEGO. WELCOME TO PARADISE ISLAND.

WITH A SENSE OF EASE. THE FOREST HAS BEEN KNOWN AS A ZEN OF PEACE, FOR ITS TRANQULITY AND COOL BREEZE BEING A QUITE, PEACEFUL AND RELAXING SCENERY, THAT PROVIDES PEOPLE WITH ALOT OF GREENERY .

HEY BOOTS?? DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE?? THERE ITS A HUGE BUSH FIRE ACROSS THE BRIDGE!!!!!
THE ONLY WAY TO SAVE THE FOREST FROM THE DETRIMENTAL EFFECT OF THIS FIRE, IS IG WE CAN GO ACCROSS THE BRIDGE, THROUGH THE PLAIN AND OVER THE MOUNTAIN TO GET TO THE MAGIC FOUNTAIN. I WILL NEED YOURRRRR HELP TO GET TO THE MAGIC FOUNTAIN TO GET ENOUGH WATER TO PUT OUT THE FIRE.

MY FLAMES LOOK BEAUTIFUL DANCING IN THE DARK, YES I AM THE WILDEST SIDE OF POWER HERE THAT CAN DESTROY THE FOREST WITH A BREEZE!!!!! IT ONLY TAKES ONE SPARK AND POFFFFFFFFFFF EVERY PLANT WILL BE BLAZING AND THE ANIMAL GAZING AS THE ONCE KNOWN HABITAT WILL BURN DOWN FLAT.
THE ONLY WAY MY VENGEANCE WON’T CONQUER YOUR PRECIOUS LITTLE FOREST, IS IF YOU DEFEAT ME, AND DEFEATING ME IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY!!!!

Task
1.To get to the magic fountain, DEIGO will first have to cross the bridge, but to do so, he will need your help to complete the riddle given.
2. He will then have to climb over the mountain, but he will also need your help to complete a powerpoint presentation which will cover information about the various organizations that aid in the protection of forest reserves in Jamaica.
3.To enter the gates of the magic fountain, he will need your help to write and upload an essay about the harmful Effects Of Fires On Forestry, On Schoology.
In order to complete the tasks given; students should be cognizant of:
1.The key terms highlighted: forestry, bush fire, harmful and effects.
2.Ways to curve the issue of harmful attacks being carried out on the forest.
3.They should also be able to correctly identify the different organizations that aid in the prevention of harmful nuisances on the forest, such as bush fires.
Task 1 must be completed and submitted within a two (2) day period, task 2 should be completed within a three (5) day period and task 3 should be completed within seven (7) days.
The task given are in accordance with those stipulated in the National Standards Curriculum (NSC), for grade 9 Social Studies.
The first task should be completed individually
The second and third tasks should be done in groups of no less than four (4) persons. The name of the teams for these two tasks are Thunder Starz and Divine Purpose.
The tasks should be completed and uploaded to Schoology, using a wide range of available software (PowerPoint, Google Docs, Microsoft Words and Google Slides), to aid in showcasing the creativity of students work.
Process
The journey to the land of knowledge acquisition has begun!!! You will be required to do some form of additional readings and researches.

In order for Diego to complete his quest and put an end to the fire in the forest, you are required to be apart of any of the two groups below and complete your tasks.
Each group must have no more than four (4) members. (2 Groups of 4)
Group Names: THUNDER STARZ and DIVINE DESTINY
THUNDER STARZ
- With the aid of Microsoft PowerPoint, you are required to design a PowerPoint presentation, that will highlight the following:
- Name three (3) organizations that aid in the preservation of the forest reserves here in Jamaica.
- Give a brief overview of each organization including, when it was established, its vision and mission statements and also how they have helped to preserve and protect the forests.
- Give and outline of the Forest Act of 1996.
DIVINE DESTINY
- With the aid of Microsoft PowerPoint, you are required to design a PowerPoint presentation, that will highlight the following:
- Name three (3) organizations that aid in the preservation of the forest reserves here in Jamaica.
- Give a brief overview of each organization including, when it was established, its vision and mission statements and also how they have helped to preserve and protect the forests.
- Give and outline of the Forest Act of 1996.

Conclusion
This Web Quest was aimed at providing and equipping students with the necessary knowledge in regards to the harmful effects of human interferences on forest reserves. We are moving into a more modern and technological era, therefore, this Web Quest equipped students with various skills to be able to be effective citizens in a more technological environment.
Activities that were presented in this web quest, provided students with the opportunity to be creative, critical and cooperative individuals. They were required to use technology as a means of acquiring and presenting new information through various interactive means.
Being aware of the different ways that human interferences can have a detrimental effect on forests, students will now be able to pass on garnered information to the wider society.

I cannot express enough thanks to Miss Andree Campbell, lecturer for the course Education Technology, for allowing me this opportunity to complete an assignment of such technicalities and extreme focus, which has aided in my development and technological advancement and awareness in this fast-paced and competitive ,global world. The Web Quest was specifically designed for grade (8) eight Social Studies students, with the intention of providing the necessary information about forestry. To be more specific, students were exposed to information in relations to what is forestry, organizations that preserve and protect the forest reserves in Jamaica, harmful effects on forestry, and ways to curve the issue of harm done to the forests.
With the different activities provided, students critical, collaborative and creative skills have been tremendously improved and they are now fully ware of the effects of damaging our forest reserves and can now be active advocates for the protection and preservation of our forests.
