Habitats & Communities

Introduction

You have won the chance to spend a day with a Zookeeper. You must decide what animal you would like to learn about while you are at the zoo. When you get back to school you will share what you have learned with your classmates in a google slides presentation.

Task

Choose an animal to find out about at the zoo.

Find answers to these questions.

  1. Where in the world would you find your animal?

  2. What type of habitat does it live in?

  3. How big/tall is your animal when it is born?

  4. How big/tall is your animal when it is an adult?

  5. What does it eat?

  6. Is it a carnivore, omnivore, or herbivore?

  7. Where does your animal fit on its food chain?

  8. What adaptations does your animal have that would help it survive in its habitat?

  9. What type of shelter does your animal have?

  10. What plants are in the habitat?

Add the information you find to the Google Slides. Be sure to include interesting facts and photos of your animal.

Process

Visit the websites for the zoos provided.

Find the answers to all of the questions on the assignment page. Use the google slides to record your answers.

When your research is complete use the information to recreate a zoo exhibit for your animal. Include plants and animals that would be in the same habitat, a water source, and shelter.
