Hello Scientists!
In this WebQuest, we will create a graphic organizer (e.g., a poster) to illustrate how our real-life examples, diagrams, visuals, and hypotheses demonstrate Newton's third law of motion.
Engagement:
Have you ever wondered why is it, when you push against a wall, it feels like it pushes back at you? Do you marvel whenever you see a bird fly, its wings go down and backwards, but it flies in an opposite direction? And more excitedly, how is it we've had over 377 human spaceflight launches?!?
To answer these questions, you will need to learn more about how Newton's Third Law of motion works.
Task
Your task is to create an informative and visually engaging poster that highlights the key ideas of Newton's Third Law.
Your poster should be both educational and visually appealing, suitable for a middle school audience.
For example:

Process
Create Your Own Poster (CYOP)
-MUST relate to Newton's Third Law
-MUST relate to our science standard/lesson
Include the following:
- TITLE: clear & creative. -Out of Newton's Three Laws of Motion, you will only be focusing on his Third Law. Make this known to us (your audience) that you are solely referencing to action/reaction pairs or the numerical equivalent.
- INTRODUCTION: brief introduction to Newton's third law, define the term & why it's important. -Aim for accuracy and fluency in explaining the concepts of the third law of motion. Utilize the provided online resources to define your own definition of Newton's Third Law and its significance in the physical world.
- REAL-WORLD EXAMPLES: Include at least 3 real-world examples. These examples should be explained & visually represented on the poster. -This can be demonstrated via sports, recreations/hobbies, living and non-living beings, and engineering accomplishments.
- ILLUSTRATIONS & DIAGRAMS: Use visual aids to help explain the concept.
- TEXT: Use legible text to explain the content & examples.

Conclusion
Congratulations scientists! You're one step closer to deciphering all of Newton's Laws!
In this lesson, you have defined Newton's Third Law, you created a beautiful poster that showcased your knowledge, and you related what you learned to the real world!
The learning doesn’t stop there though, there are thousands of ways that society utilizes Newton’s Third Law, and your task is to notice how it’s used in your everyday life. You thought of a few examples earlier, but luckily those examples aren’t the limit.
Don’t forget, for every action there’s an equal and opposite reaction!
