Introduction
In EGD: Civil Engineering we do technically dressings, which are called plans. these drawing have different views, namely plan view, North, South, East & West Elevations. For the purpose of this class, we will only be focusing on Plan View Drawing. As we have done in mechanical systems, Top Vies, Plans Views is the same thing in Civil Drawings. Where as instead of high and left views we use the compass direction to indicated what side of the structure we are drawing.
Task
Due Date: Monday 13 September 2021
The National Department of Human Settlement has begun the next phase of the Reconstruction and Development Programme (RDP) houses in the Western Cape. They have contacted the high school EGD Department, and asked if the Grade 10 learns are able to come up with a floor plan for the potential bathroom for the houses with the following specifications:
The bathroom must sit in the corner of the house, meaning there will be two exterior walls and two interior walls.
SPECIFICATIONS:
1. A bath
2. Toilet
3. Basin
4. Tile floors
5. Sliding window
6. Door (Must swing open into the bathroom)
The drawing must t be completed on a A3 page.
Use the scale: 1:25
It is important to use a drawing board and all the necessary equipment to complete this task
Bathroom dimensions:
Length: 3000
Width: 2500
All specifications must be drawing to the standards of the SANS (SABS) 10111 & 10143 (Find links under the Process Tab)
Process
Now that we know what must be done, how do you do it...
All the information you will need to complete the task is available on the following resource, however, you are encourage to do your own research as well. Alternatively, have a look on the class Google Drive, under theGrade 10 EGD: Civil: folder (the link can be found under the Teacher Page Tab on this WebQuest).
Before attempting the task, spend some time studying the resources provided.
It is important that you make sure you know how to calculate the scale of the drawing, for all the items you will be drawing on the plan. (Video 5 & 6 explains scale)

IF you have any questions regarding the task, you are welcome to contact me via WhatsApp or Email. My contact details are on the teachers page at the end of this WebQuest alternatively, post your questions on the class WhatsApp groups.
Evaluation
The following Rubric will be used to grade your Floor Plan Drawing. Please not that you will be penalised for late submission without a valise and reasonable explanation presented before the submission date.
Conclusion
Please have a look at the image bellow. There are several points numbered on the drawing, that you would have found in your plan view.
On a separate page, write the numbers 1 - 10 and write down what each point on the drawing is. Do this on a separate page in your EGD workbook.
