Globalization

Introduction

For the next four lessons, you are going to work with the topic "Globalization".

Together you are going to make a mind-map of the word itself and write texts on the subject.

In the end you are going to make a PowerPoint presentation in pre-made groups of four, on the subject of EU.

Task

In the 4 lessons, the you must complete 3 assignments.

1. Make a mind map in "Canva" on the word "Globalization".

2. Make a hand-in written assignment on the knowledge, that you have on the subject

3. Prepare a PowerPoint presentation i groups of 4, with the main topic "EU". The presentation should be no longer than 8 mins.

Process

On the first day you are going to start out by making a mind map in "Canva" on the word "Globalization" and what it means to you. https://www.canva.com/da_dk/grafer/mind-maps/

After this, in groups of two, you are going to write and hand-in a text on the subject, which should be between 1/2 - 1 whole page -it should include everything you know and are able to find about "Globalization", and should be written in your own words. You have 45 mins. for this.

The final assignment is a PowerPoint presentation on "EU".

the task for the presentation is to:

  • Find information about EU

  • Highlight the most important ones

  • Find pictures or memes to give it life

  • Use your own words, not the internet!

  • Prepare a PowerPoint presentation that last maximum 8 minutes.

Evaluation

Students:

For the hand-in written paper on "Globalization", you will be evaluated in form of comments on what was good and what should be improved.

After your presentation, your classmates are given the opportunity to give positive feedback, or clarify if there might be something they didn’t understand. When the students are done giving feedback, the teacher will then comment on your presentation and look at what should be a point of interest in form of improvement.

The elements of content

The main topic is “Globalization”. On the first day of class, the plan for the lesson and the goals for the day, are found in the prepared Web quest, to better include the students in the process and expectations on the subject. The word “Globalization” is written in “Canva” (https://www.canva.com/da_dk/grafer/mind-maps/) , and the class is given the task to make a mind map on what this word means to them. This will be in open class, to give everyone the opportunity to participate and give brief short sentences (This is a part of the oral communication in “Common goals”).

After trying to define the word, the students should in groups of two, write a text on what “Globalization” is, in their own words approx. a half to one whole page. This will provide them with the opportunity to put English sentences in context. (Also in accordance with “Common Goals”).

The product of the task will be a written assignment, which will be handed in after 45 minutes. The evaluation on the task will be in form of summative feedback.

The big task of this project, will be focusing on EU.

The class is divided into groups of 4, using the theory of cooperative learning.

The students are given the task to find information and prepare a PowerPoint on “EU”. They are also required to find pictures and other relevant material to support their text, and then as a result of this web quest, make an oral presentation in class.

The students are given the task, to:

  • Find information about EU

  • Highlight the most important ones

  • Find pictures or memes to give it life

  • Use your own words, not the internet!

  • Prepare a PowerPoint presentation that last maximum 8 minutes.
