Gift Giving...What Does It Cost??

Introduction

Money is used everyday to purchase various items!  For this project you are planning to purchase gifts for friends.  Be careful and don't go over budget!

Task

For this task, you have been given $500.00 to purchase gifts for a few friends. 

  • First: Decide *HOW MANY FRIENDS YOU ARE SHOPPING FOR and *LIST THEIR NAMES ON YOUR NOTEBOOK PAPER.  You must choose at least 3 people to shop for.

  • Next:  Visit the "Toys" department on the Walmart website to choose your gifts.

  • Then:  Neatly make a chart on your paper that lists the items you will purchase for each person including the price you will pay.

  • Then:  Make sure you have enough money to cover the cost of your purchases.  If not, make adjustments as necessary.  Include the amount of money that you will have leftover.

  • Last:  Create a summary of your purchases.  Be sure to include details and prices of all of the items.  Also be sure to use correct grammar and sentence structure in your writing!  This may be HAND WRITTEN, TYPED IN A GOOGLE DOC, OR PLACED INTO A GOOGLE SLIDE SHOW.

Evaluation

You will be evaluated on the following:

  • Final product is engaging and informative.

  • Student turned in research paper that includes names of friends and items being purchased.

  • Student included a table or chart detailing purchases.

  • Student correctly calculated totals of items purchased and did not go over budget.

  • Student correctly calculated amount of money left after purchases.

  • Hard work and effort is evident in the final product.
