Family Tree

In this webquest, we will see that  family tree can be a beautiful work of art as well as an informative genealogical record. Family history project brings to the classroom can help motivate students to learn, as well as encourage retention of the covered material.

Task

Students will be required to carryout various task that will be on the site.These tasks aim at developing the students understanding of the topic.

Students will

  • Make a family tree
  • Identify pictures of different family members
  • List the three types of family
  • Determine whether families are single parent, nuclear or extended.
  • Identify and describe the role of each member in the family. 
  • tell something about you and you family.
Process

 

Step 1: Prepare all the Materials Needed:

Large sheets of whilte construction paper

Crayons

Scissors

Sheets of construction paper (various colors)

Glue

Markers

What to do:

Make a family tree. (like the picture on the introduction)

Put all the pictures of your family members.

Talk about families. What things do we do with our families? How can we help each other? What responsibilities do we each have?

Step 2: Teacher will ask students to show their family tree to the class and tell what is a family.

Step 3: Teacher and students will observe pictures and tell whether families are large or small. They will also say how many members are in each family.


Step 4:  The teacher will ask the students to name some of the family members seen, then describe each member of the family.

Conclusion

Although you have completed your tasks in this webquest. Family trees are always changing.  Babies are born into a family, and people die.  Whether you continue your search now or come back to it at a later date, you have already begin the process of putting together many of the puzzle pieces that make up your family tree.

Being a part of family is important in your life. A family is a special part of your life. Your family is always a part of you and you are always a part of it. There are all kinds of families and yours is one of them. Upon completion of this project you should have been able to identify with your very own family and understand why families are special.
