This webquest is based on the topic healthy food. The students are encouraged to find more information about
healthy food in the internet. They write down about the interesting subjects they have found, and what they have learned.

The end product is a self made cookbook, which might inspire the students to do more cooking.

I do hope, you have had fun during this webquest!

Hopefully your cookbook will become in handy!

An apple a day...

Unit 7 of the Open World Workbook 1-8 is all about food and fitness. Students are encouraged to do a health check at the beginning and will learn a lot about healthy food, eating habits, fast food and sports.

Food and especially sports are important subjects for students. This is why the webquest uses this subjects to promote an online research. Students will read through many interesting articles and have to decide what to write about. The essays the students will produce could be seen as an efficiency statement for the teacher to check the level of progress.

It is important, that the subjects of class are related to the everiday life of the students. Therefore, in exercise 2.) students create their own online cookbook. Students have the opportunity to input everything they have learned about healthy food. Furthermore, students can share their own cookbook in class. Maybe those cookbooks could come in use on a school trip.

In Lehrplan 21 an aim is to enable students of writing different texts. In this webquest, students practise the writing of essays. Another aim of Lehrplan 21 is the skill of translating different texts of German (or Swiss German) language into English. Students will practice the translation of recipes.

In the end the teacher can create a circle in the classroom, where all the students present their own cookbooks. This will create an environment for speaking activities.
