Have you ever wondered who the first president of the United States was? Why do people call him the "Father of Our Country"?

In this Web Quest, you will:

  • Learn about George Washingtons Life 
  • Discover important events during his presidency 
  • Create a fun poster or to show what you learned 

Guiding Questions:

  1. Who was George Washington?
  2. What are three important things he did as a president?
  3. Why do people remember him today?
Task

Your mission is to 

  • Work in a small group 
  • Find 5-6 fun facts about George Washington
  • Make a poster with your facts and pictures
  • Share your project with the class!
Process

Step 1: Form groups of 2-3 students per group 

Assign roles: 

  1. Researcher: Finds 5-6 facts about George Washington
  2. Artist/Designer: Draws pictures
  3. Presenter: Shares the project with the class

Step 2: Research - Use these websites

Step 3: Organize information

  • Write 1-2 sentences for each fact
  • Add a drawing for each fact

Step 4: Create Poster

  • Use markers, crayons, colorful paper

Step 5: Practice Your Presentation

  • The group should practice what they are going to say when presenting
