Fun Phonics in Kindergarten

Introduction

Welcome to fun in phonics! Letters and sounds help us read and write. Did you know that every letter makes a special sound? But what sounds do different letters make? How do we put them together to make words? Throughout this activity, you will explore letter sounds and match letters to pictures. By the end of this lesson, you will know what sounds letters make, find words that start with a special letter and you will help make a letter sound book for the class. 

Task

Your job is to help make a letter soundbook with your classmates! Each group will be assigned a letter. Next, you will find words that start with your assigned letter. Then you will all draw pictures of the words you found, and match the sounds of the words and pictures together. Finally, we will connect all the pages to make one big class book. You will then all take turns narrating your pages and picking out sounds.

Process

You will work with 2-3 classmates. Each one of you will have a special job. The word finder will pick out words that match up with your assigned letter. The artist will draw the matching photos. Each one of you will take turns speaking and narrating your pages using the iPads to record your voices. The assistant will assist me in putting all the pages together to form our book.
