World Environments

Introduction

Let me introduce you to some of the environments of our world. The environments that we will explore are: arctic, tundra, taiga, rainforest and desert. Have you ever been to a desert? Have you ever been to a rainforest? What about the tundra, taiga, or the arctic? Chances are, if you have been to any of the environments you would have been to the desert or to a rainforest...anyway, there is much to investigate, and explore...so we will begin. Today we will look at the TUNDRA. Work in pairs to learn all you can about this environment on Earth.

Let's fly over the Earth for the next few minutes:

Task

In groups of two, search for pictures of a tundra environment. Now, tell each other what you see in this picture of the Tundra. Can you guess where the Tundra might be located on our globe?

Process
  1. Does this environment look cold? Warm? What do you see in the background, in the foreground?
Evaluation
  1. Evaluation-----
  2. Ideas--------------
    1. Describe a great evaluation you might create.
    2. What about asking several questions about the world.
    3. Have students describe various places in the world where they have been.
    4. Remarkable facts about the world's environments.

Last, but not least, create a question in your notes about each of the three flyovers above.

Which did you like best?

Which did you think the most beautiful?

Which environment would you like to visit if you could only choose one/
