Task

There will be five teams, and each team will have one number (from 1 to 9) ready to write on the white board. Each team leader will come forward to write down the number and rest of the students will put the cookies in each jar.  Once each team finish put the cookies in the jars then add the cookies in both jars to find out if the number equal to the number that is on the white board.  The winning team will get the most of the cookies!

Process

The balancing it game will help you understand how to add two different numbers will equal to the number that is on the board.

For example, 5 = _ + 3

Evaluation

Each team will keep the cookies in the jar with the correct answer.  However, the teacher will keep the cookies if you have the wrong answer.

Conclusion

The balancing it game could use on a daily basis. For example, you would like to make brownie for your family.  The brownie box provides the cooking direction in the back of the box.  It often describes two eggs and a quarter cup of the oil. This is how we use in our daily life.  You can continue practicing with your family members by using the blocks, marbles, or any objects you have at home.
