Welcome, Grade 4 students!
In this WebQuest, you will become “reading detectives.” Your job is to read different passages and discover the main idea and the supporting details that prove it.
The main idea is the most important point the author is trying to tell us, while supporting details give more information about it.
By the end of this WebQuest, you will be able to confidently identify the main idea in any passage and explain it using supporting details.
Task
Your task is to:
1. Read short passages provided in this WebQuest
2. Identify the main idea of each passage
3. List at least 3 supporting details for each main idea
4. Create a short presentation (poster, Canva slide, or PowerPoint) showing your answers
5. Share your final work with your classmates or teacher

Step 1: Learn About Main Ideas
Read the information provided by your teacher about the main ideas and supporting details.
Step 2: Watch a Video
Watch the educational video explaining how to identify main ideas in a passage.
Step 3: Read the Passages
Read the passages carefully and think about what the author is mostly trying to say.
Step 4: Identify Supporting Details
Write at least three supporting details that explain or support the main idea.
Step 5: Create Your Presentation
Use Canva or PowerPoint to create a simple presentation showing:

Step 6: Submit Your Work
