Find Jake a Job

Introduction

Hello Students! Most of you are going through the education system here at College of Southern Idaho and it is important that we start to look at the careers that are available to you after your graduate.  Today we will be researching types of employment that could be given to a young man named Jake, a graduate in your field to see what type of jobs are out there.

Task

Today we will be exploring the web to find a career for Jake, a recent college graduate who just completed his degree in education.  Jake has strong leadership skills, is great at math, has a strong background in business and financial interests, but does not want to work with very young children.  What job in the world of education might fit Jake the best? He really wants to make a difference in the lives of students but needs help finding the right job to do so.

Process

Here are a list of things that Jake would like to be a part of his job:

  • Health Insurance benefits
  • Full time work, not part time.
  • Working with older students, highschool-college
  • Working in a field of business, money or math.
  • Work throughout most of the year.  Paid summer vacation.

There are thousands of jobs in the world of education and it is now your job to weed through them and find the job you see best fit for Jake.

Here are a couple websites to get you started

You will then complete an essay explaining to me why this is the best possible career for Jake.  You must have valid information and state what sources you used to figure out the best fit.  The essay must be in APA format and must be at least a page and a half long.  You must also tell me one career that you found available as a career in education that you did not know about before.
