Introduction

Hello Time Travelers! You are about to embark on an adventure that will take you to some of the greatest ancient civilizations in our history! 

Task

By the end of you adventure you will be able to identify the location of some history‚Äôs greatest civilizations, create a timeline of significant events and identify the leaders during these points in history. 

Process

  • Go to your teacher and select one of the following ancient civilizations to explore: Rome, Greece, Egypt, and Mesopotamia.

  • After selecting you civilization you will first find the timeline that belongs to your civilization from the link of websites listed.

  • After finding your timeline you will create your own timeline that includes the beginning of your civilization, significant leaders, and beginnings of major religious and political organizations.

  • Once you have created your timeline you will go the link below and find your civilization. Then you will list at least 3 details that pertain to your civilization.

  • Your final step after creating your time line is locating a map of you civilization during the period that you have selected and draw a your map of you civilization that includes major river systems and physical features that supported settlement for that civilization.

  • Once you have completed these steps, you will let your teacher know and select a new civilization to explore!

Evaluation

In order to receive full credit for this adventure:

First, you must fully complete all the activities for at least 2 civilizations. 

In addition, your timeline and civilization detail activities must include at least one significant religious detail and one political detail.

Finally, you maps must include at least one historical site and natural geographical location that helped establish the civilization, such as a river or other body of water.   

Conclusion

After traveling to all the different civilization! You will write a brief summary on the civilization you found the most interesting.

        Introduction-

        The goal of the students background information to ancient civilizations that we will be studying this years.

         

        Learners-

        I designed this webquest for 6thgrade students to work with during their world history and geography class.

         

        Standards-

        6.2- Students analyze the geographic, political, economic, religious, and social structures of the early civilizations of Mesopotamia and Egypt.

        6.4  Students analyze the geographic, political, economic, religious, and social structures of the early civilizations of Ancient Greece. Students analyze the geographic, political, economic, religious, and social structures during the development of Rome.

        Technology-

        4.1  Use electronic reference materials to gather information and produce products and services.

         

        Process-

         

        In order for students to remain focused and not get lost or confused in doing the required research for this webquest, the teacher needs to provide the necessary webpages to keep the students on task. Also, during the webquest, the teacher needs to gage the appropriateness of the websites provided as well as the student activities to avoid confusion by students.

         

        Resources-

         

        The students will need access to computers and the Internet in order for students to complete the webquest. In addition, the students will need paper, colored pencils, and markers to create their timeline and maps.
