Fantasy Flight

Introduction

You have won a dream trip around the world, providing you with 50,000km of free air travel to four major cities. 

Unfortunately, there’s a catch… you have to pay for your own accommodation and provide all your own spending money. 

Task

You will produce a travel itinerary and a record of expenses to show how much your dream holiday will cost.  Don’t forget to look out for discounts and special offers. 

Learning Intentions 

  1. Find and record the distance between your chosen destinations. Calculate total distance travelled. 

  1. Find the latitude and longitude for your 4 chosen destinations and mark them on a map. 

  1. Find and record the departure and arrival times and flight durations. Calculate the total flying time. 

  1. Write a list of all expenses and calculate the total cost of the trip. 

  1. Present you itinerary and budget. Discuss factors that influenced your planning and budget and justify your choices. 

 

Process

STEPS:- 

  1. Create a new folder called “Fantasy Flight” into your Maths investigation folder in your one drive. 

  2. Log into your iMaths account and open Investigation 7 “Fantasy Flight”. 

  3. Click on Student Pages and READ, UNDERSTAND AND PLAN your investigation. 

  1. Download and save your investigation printables to your “fantasy flight” folder. 

  1. Use this online dictionary to understand the meanings of the following words and create a glossary:- 

Itinerary, accommodation, map references, major city, destination, budgeting, route, allotted, influenced, allocated 

  1. Highlight and save your Rubric. 

  1. Complete and save your investigation plan.   

  2. Continue to follow the steps in Fantasy Flight:-  Choose your destinations, Mark your Journey, Calculate your flying time, Find accommodation and calculate expenses. (

HINT - Don’t forget to use Microsoft Excel to create your tables and look for templates instead of creating your own or see table examples at the bottom of this page
